LET’S MAKE SAI KUNG, HONG KONG’S FIRST PLASTIC STRAW-FREE TOWN!
Sai Kung is a vibrant and beautiful area where Hong Kongers come to enjoy good food, relaxation and nature. A fishing town, Sai Kung’s popularity revolves around it’s connection with the ocean. From eating seafood to playing on the beach – we all want to keep Sai Kung beautiful.
Unfortunately, due to the rise of use in disposable plastics, we are now facing a huge threat to our home – our beautiful beaches are now littered with plastics, our fish are ingesting the plastic in the ocean, which means in turn – humans are consuming it too.
Experts predict that by 2050 there will be more plastic waste in the sea than fish!
LUCKILY we can all make some EASY small steps that make a HUGE difference.
The easiest first step – that we stop using disposable plastic straws.
These straws are used for a few minutes, but stay on our planet, and in our oceans, forever.
Worldwide, people are waking up to the threat of plastic pollution to our planet and are banning plastic straws from their restaurants, using either paper alternatives, or better still – no straw at all.
