EP 25

Fish Outta Water | Date: July 18, 2017

The government is currently proposing the creation of a Sustainable Lantau Office (SLO), which will be responsible for the implementation of the Sustainable Lantau Blueprint (the Blueprint). Astonishingly, the Environment Bureau has no representatives in the proposed version of SLO. Furthermore, of the 16 projects and initiatives under SLO, only one is relevant to conservation. In order to achieve the principle of ‘Balancing Development and Conservation’ at Lantau, SLO must not be only led by the Development Bureau and Civil Engineering and Development Department.
