Recent studies suggest that the consumption of shark parts may be a route for human exposure to marine toxins. A study conducted by American scientists revealed that sharks have a greater risk of bioaccumulation of marine toxins and mercury due to them being long-lived predators, and that shark fins and shark cartilage contain a toxin that is associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Saying no to shark fin soup can not only protect marine ecology, but also prevents unnecessary health risks. Sign the petition asking Maxim’s restaurants to stop selling shark fin soup!
