Tung Wah Group of Hospitals submitted an application to the Town Planning Board to make way for a 18-storey youth hostel, next to Man Mo Temple. Man Mo temple in Sheung Wan, was built between the years 1847 and 1862 and is a declared monument under the 1976 Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance. Such construction of a high-rise building would put 169-year-old Man Mo Temple at risk.
Please help to object to an inappropriate development at the Man Mo Temple compound in Sheung Wan.

本人強烈反對東華三院提出的重建申請，在文武廟旁邊一所學校舊址興建一幢樓高十八層的青年宿舍。反對理由如下：
1. 文武廟是香港現存最重要的廟宇，已列為法定古蹟，其建築及文物價值會因為旁邊不適當重建而受破壞。
2. 國際文物保育守則《布拉憲章》指明，處理具有重大文化價值的地方時要盡量作最少變動，致使其文化價值得以保留。而該21層高的青年宿舍不但在高度、面積，設計上均與文武廟極不一致，甚至破壞該法定古蹟的完整性。
3. 文武廟位於中環及上環舊城區的心臟地帶，必須謹慎保育以維護中環的歷史文化價值。
4. 重建項目的設計在體積及高度上與文武廟極不相稱。
5. 雖然代表指會設立煙控措施，使宿舍可以開窗。但以假日情況而言，廟宇香火極為鼎盛，相信屆時宿舍只可全日開啟空調，極不環保。
6. 上環中半山屬於土力敏感地帶，市建局於2008年曾就文武廟附近的永利街重建項目進行土力評估，指在永利街進行打樁工程，會導致旁邊樓宇及擋土牆出現裂痕及沉降，雖然東華三院承諾若發現地盤有不尋常沉降，會即時停工，然而，文武廟作為一所法定古廟，實在不應該承受不必要之風險。
7. 為彰顯文武廟的文化價值及配合現時文武廟的高度，學校舊址最適合改建為一所一層高的文物教育中心，甚至可考慮保留現有建築物改為社區所用的圖書館或托兒所。
8. 鑑於古蹟、文化、建築物結構以及環境等因素，該地段並不適宜發展青年宿舍項目，我們強烈請求城規會否決這項申請。
我們強烈建議政府重新為青年宿舍選址，先考慮選用原有空置用地，如校舍及警局等。
